A small box built to house an heirloom vintage engagement ring from the 1920’s. Mitered Solid wood, with walnut splines for re-enforcement.
Dimensions: 2” x 3” x 1 1/2”
Wood: Reclaimed old growth Redwood from a NYC water tower, Curly black walnut liner, reclaimed from a larger slab table.
Fabric: Hand Dyed Linen.
Finish: Shellac Polish

Mens Ring for Scale
The top is Piston Fit, but for extra security as the wood expands and contracts I added 1/16th” Diameter rare earth magnets to secure the lid. These are the smallest Magnets I have ever worked with.

I took a plunge into hand dying fabric as an added element for this box. I thought this bright yellow would brighten up the darker earthy tones of the redwood and Walnut Liner.
The linen is dyed with Yellow onion skins.
